Hey everybody! It's been a long time since I've updated anything and I was tired of the old journal being long and stuff. So here's a new one.
Is anyone planning on doing NaPoWriMo? My attempt last year was pretty pathetic, but I'm thinking about giving it a shot again. I'm not all that good at writing poetry that doesn't like, ask me to be written, you know?
I'm still working on "Chaos Children" (my current novel project, and the subject of these works of flash fiction). It's about 100,000 words in and will go a while yet, I think. On a similar note, I have been toying with the idea of starting a mailing list or something similar that would involve like, sending out my novels chapter by chapter for reading/comment? I don't know if there's any kind of interest in that, but I wouldn't mind getting some eyes on some of the works if anyone was.
Things happening in my life: I am graduating from college in May, have not found a job, and am generally an even greater giant ball of anxiety than I usually am. I assume that comes across in my poetry. I don't know. I'm getting by, anyway, and school at the very least seems very very routine and un-challenging. I have a presentation to give on my capstone project ("Writing About Art: Making the Unseen Seen") on April 26. That's exciting.
At any rate, it all has very little to do with my existence here, and I usually don't bore you guys with the details of my uninteresting and so very irrelevant life. How is everyone out there? Still ticking and waiting for spring, or happily in the bliss of a place that is already warm? Stressed out? Not stressed out? Tell me all the things, guys.
Your science-fiction afflicted friend,

(P.S. - I think the deviantart April fool's thing, thoughtArt or whatever, is a fun little thing, if perhaps not as dramatic as some of the tricks they've played before.)

Adios, Adieu, Goodbye
Hey all, It's been a while, and I've decided to remove much of my gallery here and 'retire' my dA account. I'm planning on leaving only a token number of my poems behind as something of a memorial, I suppose. For a lot of years dA was my Place. It was where I spent much of my time, and I put a lot of work into becoming a part of the community. Ever since they updated the website with 'Eclipse' I kind of stepped away, but now I've decided that I'm not coming back. I met a lot of friends here, most of whom are now gone while I stayed, something like Ozymandius' statue sticking out of the sand while the world around him was buried in the sand. My short piece: the new version of the website is bad for writers/writing, and staff clearly doesn't value the lit community here. I'm not happy with the direction it's gone. That's it. Nothing dramatic. If there's anyone watching me still around to care, Adios, Adieu, Goodbye. I'm around on other corners of the internet. =creativelycliche
The History Guy Podcast
Hello all, my silence on dA has not been entirely in vain. I've ramped up working for The History Guy, and last Friday we released our first podcast, hosted by me. At least at first our concept is to repackage episodes of the youtube channel and add new content. Our RSS feed is: https://feeds.captivate.fm/thehistoryguy/ Clicking on that link should get you to a player where you can listen to the first episode, about two aviation accidents: The story of a pilot who survived falling out of an SR-71 blackbird when it disintegrated, and the story of an experimental plane that crashed during a photo op for General Electric. We SHOULD be available just about anywhere you can find podcasts, including Apple, Spotify, and google. We'll be posting these every two weeks on Fridays in addition to our regularly scheduled youtube episodes. Great if you like history - we do stuff from every corner of history from the History of Potatoes to the Cold War to Alexander the Great... basically if
Update
Hello everybody, it's creativelycliche, your friendly admin. I know it has been a long time since we gave an update. My fellow admins have largely left the site, so it's just me running the place from my ivory tower. I am currently working two jobs as well, and dealing with a number of other crises both due to COVID-19 and other, unrelated events. Eclipse does not seem to offer a way to notify me when group submissions come in, so I have to manually check and I'll admit that I struggle to do that everyday. While I have not submitted any feature journals lately, I still look at everything coming through the group. I will consider doing some other things that can maybe encourage sharing/commenting within the group on each other's art work - after all, as sci-fi fans, I think most of us are happy to talk about our own work, the work that inspires us, and the works of others. I had a conversation with some folks elsewhere about, for instance, this video judging the relative advantages
The Guy Who Thought We Should Wash Our Hands
In 1846, a Hungarian doctor in Vienna figured out that he could save lives by washing his hands. Instead of listening to him, many doctors scoffed at him and refused to implement his advice. Ignaz Semmelweis is history that deserves to be remembered.

I'm doing NaPo! Hopefully I actually succeed... I'm a pretty lazy human being overall. I'm sorry you're stressed; I'm in the same boat. I'm in my junior year of high school, freaking out over AP tests and GPAs and the like. The weather hasn't been helping (snow! in March!), either, but today has been the first semi warm day of spring, so hopefully that lasts. And good luck on your novel - anyone who has the patience for that is practically a hero in my book.
